RBA rate drop to 3.25%

04-02-2009 . The Reserve Bank has slashed its key interest rate by 1% to 3.25%, the lowest since 1960.
Good news for variable rate mortgage holders.
Not so good for those who listened to the treasurer’s warning about rising inflation and fixed their rates at 8% plus, only a few months ago.

We anticipate the RBA will reduce rates even further over the next few months, though not as fast.
However, with the $42 Billion stimulus packaged announced today, resulting in a deficit of nearly $200 Billion, we expect rates to RISE sooner or later, as the government will compete with business to borrow money.
