Rates stay at 6.25%

07-03-2007 . The Reserve Bank of Australia is keeping interest rates on hold at 6.25% following the three rate hikes in 2006. Falling food and fuel prices have contributed to a slowdown in the CPI allowing the Reserve Bank to keep rates at (a six year high of) 6.25%. Underlying inflation was 3% for the December Quarter but the bank is forecasting 2.75% for 2007.
